If you ask me,
Everyone in the universe wears a mask,
To hide their true feelings inside their hearts,
We tremble and cower behind them,
So no one can see what we really are,
And what are we?
The silent, cold, unhappy, lonely person,
Who sits back and watches their life slip away,
Though their face is dead and expressionless,
Inside, they are crying out for love and comfort,
For happiness and a reason to live,
The same is for the person that hides behind a smile,
Those who laugh, joke, smile, and only seem happy,
Behind our masks we crumble and wither away,
I have found that life is just one big illusion,
That has no answer or end,
For even as we die,

It's such a long road,
But there's no turning back now,
The path ahead of me is clear,
I'm too far along to look back now,
I trapped myself into this,
There are no signs of escape,
All I can do is ride the road,
And turn my head away from it all,
But I can't help knowing they are back there,
I can't shut my eyes all the way,
And pretend the guilt isn't there,
Some where I made a wrong turn,
But as long as they cheer for me and love me,
I can continue down this road,
There's splattered sorrow across it,
With a thin coating of happiness too,
With a little bit of love on the side,
Along with bitterness too,
But I'm pushed down this long long road,
For some time I've been drugged out,
Just another small path I took,
That brought me back to this road,
I long to leave it all behind,
But that's impossible now,
I've been lost on this line,
There's just no turning back now,
It's all written across this eternal road.
